'The Valley Under the Skin' Exhibition

17 June - 6 July 2014 at Lansdown Gallery, Lansdown, Stroud GL5 1BB

Open Mon - Sat 10.00 am - 5.00 pm, Sun 11.00 - 4.00 pm

Glass artist Amanda Lawrence set out to get ‘under the skin’ of the Slad Valley, where she lives and works, with a two-year walking project.  Traversing the valley from end to end, she explored streams, woods, edges and settlements with camera, pencil and sound recorder, aiming to see the valley from angles other than the obvious.  What she discovered gave rise to a series of kiln formed and engraved glass pieces which will be showcased in this exhibition, along with a selection of the photographs, drawings and soundscapes which inspired them.  Visitors will also have the opportunity to get 'hands-on' with glass themselves as Amanda is planning to run short workshops during the exhibition on some of the techniques she uses.  See www.amandalawrenceglass.com for more information.
